WINTER 2011 CLASS SCHEDULE

Its winter time -- which means a wonderful opportunity to take an art class! We have our weekly lineup of classes as well as weekend workshops. Something for every one. So come learn, explore, create, meet new friends and best of all -- have fun!

CAPTURE WINTER'S LIGHT in acrylic with Lorri Pullman-MacDonald - Winter can be a beautiful time of year. Snow glows with the sun's warm light. Lorri teaches a technique where she layers transparent glazes of acrylic paint. This technique works well in capturing the glow of light in winter. Good for all levels of painters.

LEARN TO PAINT IN WATERCOLOR with Margaret Holland - Margaret is new to Paintbox studio and we are so thrilled to have her here teaching. She is a very experienced teacher and will teach students the skills necessary to master this magical medium. " Learn the basics of paint, paper, brushes, washes and techniques. With these skills you will paint assorted fruit and progress to painting sunset trees within a landscape of blue bells. Discover with me the wonder of watercolor and get to know the artist in you".

BEGINNER 2 WATERCOLOR WITH MICHELLE HUDSON - Michelle taught the 'absolute beginner' last time and this is the next level. You just need to be familiar with the medium for this class. Michelle will guide you step by step in this magical medium. You will learn and expand your knowledge of wet into wet, dry brush, palette knife and much more. Enjoy Michelle's gentle manner and non-intimidating style.

OIL PAINTING WITH CLAIRE MILES - this class continues to be one of our most popular - so much it is offered in three different time slots. Claire's quiet manner and vast knowledge keep students coming back for more. Whether you are a beginner or more advanced, you will learn a lot in this class. The student learns about materials, techniques, and basic composition. Each student works on the picture of their choice and their own pace.

CHILDRENS' ART CLASSES with Jola Muran - for beginner to more experienced - Jola has taught many children over the past few years with us and is inviting all those with their creativity to join her for an exciting winter session. Your child will try different styles of painting through the ages - from cave man to the masters to modern day. This will be done in all mediums including watercolor, acrylic, dry media and clay.

REALISTIC DRAWING WITH HERMANN BRANDT - Hermann is back to teach a drawing class. He is an excellent teacher and many of our students have enjoyed his classes. In this class (open to all levels) he will teach you how to draw using various rapid drawing exercises and teach you point of reference drawing. "How to draw what you see and not what you think you see". There will be lots of individual attention and lots to learn.

PORTRAIT PAINTING WITH SCOT PAISLEY
- Learn the art of portrait paint with Scot Paisley. Scot takes you through his step by step process how to create a likeness and a paint a portrait of the subject of your choice. Helping students explore the human head anbd face and apply the techniques in either acrylic or oil.

ACRYLICS II WITH MARLA BLACKWELL - Learn more about composition, value, color etc. Paint from your landscape photos and learn how to plan your painting from thumbnail sketch to finished painting. You don't need to have taken the first class but should be familiar with acrylic painting.

PAINTING FOR THE TERRIFIED WITH CURTIS GOLOMB - Students who took one of Curtis's class in November learned lots and created beautiful paintings. Here is what Curtis has to say about this class --" by the end of this workshop you will have the tools to create your own impactful painting rooted firmly with your new found knowledge of design, composition, color and value. Day 1 - follow along with the instructor as he walks you through step by step process to build your own painting. Day 2 - review and follow along to build a second painting with the instructor. Leave with the ability to confidently be able to paint a composition on your own from start to finish". Offered in watercolor or acrylic.

PAINTING OIL OR ACRYLICS WITH JOHN EINERSSEN - We are excited to have this international, well-known artist to come and teach for us. He does beautiful landscapes and seascapes. This class is open to all levels and will teach you how to complete a painting from start to finish using strong composition, structure, and great color values. John will paint in oils but will help you in either oils or acrylics as he is skilled at both. It will be a treat to have him so come and enjoy a great class with lots of individual help.

PAINTING WITH MURRAY PHILLIPS- Murray, a professional artist has created a following for his classes with his unique, warm, very informative. casual and fun style of teaching. Using either acrylics or oils, this class will be an exploration of the creative process and a further exploration of the techniques of landscape painting. This class is open to all levels.

Many of you have asked for "Open Studio" time as we had in the smaller studio. We are now offering that to you -- it will be on Fridays. The fee will be $10.00 for drop in any time between 10:30am and 5pm. Just call Paintbox to let us know you are coming in. Once in awhile the studio will be booked on fridays so be sure to check first.

Also we are renting the studio space when we are not using it. It is a very bright and spacious room which is perfect for functions such as art shows, yoga, meetings, etc. Just give us a call and we can go over rates with you and show you the space.

Supply lists will be available for all classes once you have registered in a class. It is important to have the supplies the instructor asks for. The lists are not long but it is very beneficial to have the supplies which are necessary. All supplies are available at the Paintbox at a 10% discount. All classes are held at the Paintbox Studio.

Payment for classes are due upon registration and fees are non-refundable if cancellation occurs in the 3 weeks prior to any workshop or class.
