CAPTURE WINTER'S LIGHT in acrylic with Lorri Pullman-MacDonald - Winter can be a beautiful time of year. Snow glows with the sun's warm light. Lorri teaches a technique where she layers transparent glazes of acrylic paint. This technique works well in capturing the glow of light in winter. Good for all levels of painters.

LEARN TO PAINT IN WATERCOLOR with Margaret Holland - Margaret is new to Paintbox studio and we are so thrilled to have her here teaching. CHILDRENS' ART CLASSES with Jola Muran - for beginner to more experienced - Jola has taught many children over the past few years with us and is inviting all those with their creativity to join her for an exciting winter session. Your child will try different styles of painting through the ages - from cave man to the masters to modern day. This will be done in all mediums including watercolor, acrylic, dry media and clay.

REALISTIC DRAWING WITH HERMANN BRANDT - Hermann is back to teach a drawing class. He is an excellent teacher and many of our students have enjoyed his classes. In this class (open to all levels) he will teach you how to draw using various rapid drawing exercises and teach you point of reference drawing. "How to draw what you see and not what you think you see". There will be lots of individual attention and lots to learn.

Day 1 - follow along with the instructor as he walks you through step by step process to build your own painting. Day 2 - review and follow along to build a second painting with the instructor. PAINTING OIL OR ACRYLICS WITH JOHN EINERSSEN - We are excited to have this international, well-known artist to come and teach for us. He does beautiful landscapes and seascapes. John will paint in oils but will help you in either oils or acrylics as he is skilled at both. It will be a treat to have him so come and enjoy a great class with lots of individual help.

Many of you have asked for "Open Studio" time as we had in the smaller studio. We are now offering that to you -- it will be on Fridays. The fee will be $10.00 for drop in any time between 10:30am and 5pm. Just call Paintbox to let us know you are coming in. Once in awhile the studio will be booked on fridays so be sure to check first.

Also we are renting the studio space when we are not using it. It is a very bright and spacious room which is perfect for functions such as art shows, yoga, meetings, etc. Just give us a call and we can go over rates with you and show you the space.

Supply lists will be available for all classes once you have registered in a class. It is important to have the supplies the instructor asks for. The lists are not long but it is very beneficial to have the supplies which are necessary. All supplies are available at the Paintbox at a 10% discount. All classes are held at the Paintbox Studio.

Payment for classes are due upon registration and fees are non-refundable if cancellation occurs in the 3 weeks prior to any workshop or class.

10th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION!

Hello Everyone -- Hard to believe but it has been 10 years since the opening of Paintbox Artist Supplies in Cochrane! We appreciate you, our customer, so much -- we are having Annual Christmas Sale on Friday November 19, and Saturday November 20. (10 - 5 each day). Every item (except original art) in the store will be 20% off. As well, there will be a "Dream Art Basket" door prize packed full of art supplies. This year a $100.00 gift certificate will also be awarded to a lucky winner! As always, coffee and goodies will be provided -- this time in our new studio space just two doors down the boardwalk. Great opportunity to check this out -- either to take a class with us or to possibly rent for your own use! Paulette Fleming will be in the studio with her Mary Kay cosmetics. She has a wonderful hand cream for artists.Make sure to take the opportunity to see the paintings our two resident artists (Randy Neufeld and Jan Murray) have on display for exhibit or sale.

As well, we are always adding new product lines. We have, as some of you know, a line of ready made frames at a very reasonable price. 20% off makes them even more attractive. Also, we have canvas and drop-in frames packaged together at a fantastic price. We have added a fluid acrylic line which should be here on time for the sale. Daniel Smith watercolors are proving to be an excellent addition to our store -- many metallic and irridescent colors for Christmas.

FALL CLASSES 2010 - DON'T MISS OUT!

Hello everyone -- A few updates -- We have added a Christmas Card Class in Watercolor to our class lineup. It is a one day class on Dec 4 taught by Karin Huehold. There are still spots available for the childrens class. Kids will learn all about fine art - drawing, painting, sculpting. Jola has called this class "Miniature Art Making". She will be teaching on watercolor cards, mini canvas, pen and ink and much more. Also the acrylic class with Karin Richter has lots of spaces left. The theme of this class is focused on when Karin was in France. Please contact us for a detailed schedule of all classes offered at the Paintbox.

The Arts Festival is on September 18 and to celebrate and honor all artists, The Paintbox is having a storewide, one day sale! All items will be 20% for the one day only. So don't miss out.

WHAT'S NEW AT THE PAINTBOX!

Hello Everyone -- Fall is here and with it is our 'Fall Classes'. We have many classes to choose from and something for everyone. There are weekly classes as well as weekend workshops in all mediums including oil, watercolor, acrylic and drawing. Email us and we will be happy to send you the full schedule.

This fall is our 10th anniversary and to celebrate this big event, we have decided to expand our studio space! We are still in the beautiful Rustic Market Square -- we have just taken on another bay to run our classes. Lots of space and great lighting.

The Paintbox has two 'in-residence' artists who will be in the store studio painting and selling their works. We are thrilled to welcome Jan Murray, and Randy Neufeld and we know you will love their work as we do!

Come in very soon and see all the new developments at The Paintbox. September 18, 2010, is Alberta Arts Day and to celebrate, there is an Arts Festival on 2nd Avenue (right in front of Paintbox). There are over 70 artists of all mediums participating. Lots of music, art and food. You won't want tol miss it. Paintbox will have a Storewide Sale that day. See you then!

2010 SPRING ART CLASSES

Spring is around the corner -- a wonderful time to play and create with paint!! After the long winter it is fun to explore the wonderful mediums and colors spring has to offer. We are sure you will find a class to further expand your skills or if you have always wanted to try painting -- now may be the time for you.

CHILDREN'S ART CLASSES - with Jola Muran -- "Spring Splash painting for children. Painting in the great outdoors will be our focus (weather permitting). Experience painting on easels around the Paintbox courtyard with the sun streaming down on our painting. Painting in nature with nature is our theme for the spring. Watercolor painting and painting on canvas will be part of this fun experience.

WEEKEND WORKSHOPS

FLORAL WATERCOLOR PAINTING - with Karin Richter- Karin has designed this workshop for all levels of watercolor painters. She will review color mixing to achieve that "clean look", values and design principles to create an interesting work of art. She will demonstrate differenct techniques in floral painting, from wet-into-wet, pen and ink, as well as direct and negative painting -- even collage. Karin will lead participants from idea, photography and thumbnail sketch to finished painting. Lots of handouts, individual attention and critiques.

FLORALS AND THE THREE WHITE CORNER DESIGN IN WATERCOLORS - with Bonnie Bell - Bonnie recently took a course with well-known artist, Karlyn Holman and she is going to share some of the beautiful techniques. This will be a floral class which will use various masking, wet-into-wet, and some negative painting. The resulting designs are colorful and dynamic. This class will add a new twist to florals. The student should be familiar with watercolor painting.

POSTCARDS IN THE GARDEN - with Karin Huehold - this is a great introduction to outdoor painting. This will be a fun and non-intimidating exploration of painting outdoors. You will paint a series of small 5 x 7 paintings ... a full plein aire day of painting.

2009 FALL CLASSES AT THE PAINTBOX

A drawing workshop, composition and design workshop and a watercolor workshop. We are thrilled to have her on our list as well as several other teachers. We will be happy to answer any questions.

New products for Fall are arriving. We are now carrying the Graham line of acrylics. They are professional quality and stay open (don't dry as quickly as other acrylics) longer. They have great pricing too! The Daniel Smith watercolors will be here soon. There is a lovely range of colors with this brand. Check it out!
